Duties of the department head are to supervise the operation and maintenance of the Wastewater Treatment Plant and its sanitary collection system. To exercise technical control of the unit processes of the facility including personnel, equipment, inventory, laboratory testing facilities and buildings. Also, responsible for the total operating budget.

Services performed are the treatment of wastewater from sanitary collection system and making it in compliance before it enters Lake Erie. Clean and maintain collection system and lift stations. Operate mandated pretreatment program and sludge hauling program.

The City encourages all employees to get certification from the State of Ohio. We now have one Class IV Operator - two Class III Operators - one Class I Operator - one Class II Operator. We also have two employees that hold a Class I Collection System License. These certified employees are a great asset the City of Conneaut.

NOTE: If you suspect a sewer problem at your home, always call the Wastewater Plant first. If the problem is in the City line, we will fix it. If it is not the City’s line, you will have to call a private contractor. The Wastewater Treatment Plant will be happy to assess the problem for you.
